The Barefooted Beast was originally meant to be a 5 song EP, eventually it became a 10 track acoustic led album, featuring songs compiled from the last two and a half years. Using mostly acoustic instruments - bass, steel string, classical guitar, 8 string ukulele and experimental percussion eg. spoons, toothbrushes, pens, pencils, djembe, shakers (provided by the pantry) and a lighter etc. with the aim of re-creating Polynesian percussion instruments. Also included is "The Matariki Suite - Te Ono O Matariki" A seven movement piece, produced for a study assessment with reference to the seven stars of Maori mythology ; The Mother Matariki and her six daughters as a celebration of the Maori New Year.
